Linda Lovelace Biography: Linda Lovelace was born in the Bronx, New York, and is perhaps the well-known porn performer from the 70s. She was active in the adult industry from 1969 to 1980, during the "Golden Age of Porn"--an era when America was beginning to release porn films with more mainstream access. ?Linda Lovelace's most popular appearance was in the one of the first mainstream porn films ever created in the United States: the infamous XXX feature "Deep Throat." The film was released in 1972 and became an influential to other films in the industry for years to come. Linda plays a sexually frustrated woman who asks her friend Helen, played by co-star Dolly Sharp, for advice. Linda goes home and tries out her advice with no luck. Helen suggests that Linda make an appointment with psychiatrist Dr. Young, portrayed by co-star Harry Reems. During their appointment, he figures out that her clitoris is in her throat and goes about teaching her oral sex skills. Later in the film, Linda asks Harry to marry her. He declines but tells her she could be his assistant and help him by using her newfound skill while deepthroating other men until she finds someone to marry her. Given all the controversy, the film was put forth in court many times because of its allegedly obscene nature. Many places banned the viewing of "Deep Throat." Needless to say, the film has been loved and hated by viewers for decades. In part due to that controversy, "Deep Throat" remains one of the most profitable porn films of all time. Ms. Lovelace has also starred in five other major adult films. She holds a sun sign of Capricorn and stands at 5'8" tall.
